TYMLEZ Releases 2 Open-Source Guardian Policies in time for COP27
TYMLEZ releases two open-source Guardian policies for carbon emissions tracking and reduction on the Hedera network, enabling dMRV implementations ahead of COP27.
As part of our commitment to Open Source and to the Hedera community, TYMLEZ has today released 2 of its core policies to open-source.
In March of this year, the TYMLEZ and HBAR Foundation announced a strategic partnership in order to accelerate the development of transparency in environmental markets on the Hedera network.
The Hedera network sustainability ecosystem is being driven by the HBAR Foundation Sustainable Impact Fund (SIF) of which TYMLEZ was the first grantee in Australia.
As part of our commitment to this fund and to the Hedera ecosystem as a whole we have today released 2 starter policies to the community that will enable the implementation of dMRV for Emissions and Reduction purposes.

The policies
The policies were built based on drafts of the IWA Voluntary Ecological Market Standards and the token taxonomy framework there within. They include two distinct policies and their associated schemas:
CET Policy
The first policy is a Carbon Emissions Token (CET) policy. This enables tokenisation of Carbon Emissions on Hedera.
The policy calculates the emissions against a provided emissions factor and then calculates the carbon emissions of each Emitting MRV that is provided.
These MRV’s are then aggregated and for each 1 ton of carbon emissions (1tCO2e) a token is minted as a unit of account.
CRU Policy
The second policy is a Carbon Reduction Unit (CRU) policy. This enables tokenisation of Carbon Abatement on Hedera.
The policy calculates the emissions abated against a provided emissions factor and then calculates the carbon abatement for each Abating MRV that is provided.
These MRV’s are then aggregated and for each 1 ton of Carbon Emissions abated an NFT token is minted as a unit of account.
How to use these Policies?
TYMLEZ recently released a Terraform setup for the Guardian which allows you to deploy a production-ready setup of the Guardian to the cloud (AWS or GCP).

Alternatively, you can download the setup from https://github.com/hashgraph/guardian and run the setup locally as per the instructions in the readme.
You can then import the .policy files from our repository and import them to your Guardian setup.
TYMLEZ @ COP27
TYMLEZ will be in attendance at COP27 in Egypt where the worlds preeminent climate representatives will be gathering to decide the next wave of measures to effectively tackle the global challenge of climate change.
